In Catalunya traditionally all the support for Catalan is mostly afforded by the Secretaria de Política Lingüística.
The 2010-2013 Research and Innovation Plan (PRI) is the instrument the Administration of the Government of Catalonia uses to perform the task of planning, promoting and coordinating Catalonia's research and innovation. The PRI 2010-2013 Executive Summary is available in English. The general description is available in Catalan only. The plan do not mention explicitly language technologies in its objectives.
In parallel, the Language Policy Secretariat, with organic rank of general secretariat, forms part of the Department of the Vice-Presidency. It drives the Government’s language policy and between its functions “It establishes and develops policies that seek to foster the use of Catalan in all areas of society and the availability of products and services in Catalan”.

In their Plan for the linguistic policy, the first strategic line is to promote the social use of the Catalan Language. Within this section, the Objective ‘Make Catalan easier to use’, includes a section that focuses on “promoting the development of tools and resources for language engineering in the Catalan language (i.e. Automatic translators, Language Analyzers, Terminology management tools, oral databases, etc.), as well as to promote open software to make it available to citizens and businesses. The Working Plan for the next year is not available yet.
