The "National HLT Network" (NHN) is an informal, cyber-network of HLT role-players in South Africa. Its goal is to allow identifying the Languages Resources, Modules and Applications which exist for the 11 South African official languages. There are many institutions or companies involved in HLT in South Africa.

Under the auspices of the NHN, a HLT audit was conducted in 2009. Data of this audit is captured at http://www.meraka.org.za/nhnaudit/. This allowed to identify the Languages Resources, Modules and Applications which exist for the 11 South African official languages (Afrikaans, English, IsiNdebele, IsiXhosa, IsiZulu, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, SiSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga).
