S3 – Sharing or Not Sharing: Availability and Legal Issues

We have reached a point where the Human Language Technology field needs a sharing of language resources, for various reasons: participation in the market evolution, easier exchange of information, increased return on investment, and more efficient capitalization on previous work.

Putting the concept of language resources sharing into practice is not easy, however, and requires addressing a number of critical issues, among which the technical and logistic requirements, legal issues and pricing policies.

This session aims at highlighting the major stumbling blocks (legal ones in particular) that need to be overcome in order to make sharing of language resources a viable solution.
